Co op / Multiplayer
Local two-player — a second player takes control of Faie.
The quick answer
Co op is local, up to two players. Player 1 plays Elliot; Player 2 controls Faie (the fairy companion). It's drop-in / drop-out — a second player can join or leave at any time. There is no online co op; it's couch multiplayer only.
How to start co op
- Start or load a game as Player 1 (Elliot).
- Have a second controller connected and ready.
- Player 2 drops in to take over Faie. The same is true in reverse — Player 2 can drop out at any time, and solo play hands Faie back to Player 1 on the right stick.
What each player does
The two roles aren't symmetrical — you're sharing one adventure, not playing two heroes.
- Player 1 — Elliot: all the combat with your two-weapon loadout, guarding, and charged specials.
- Player 2 — Faie: finds tricks and traps, picks up nearby items, helps pick on enemies in battle, and uses her learned magic — Sprint, Warp, Ignite, Vacuum and Copy. A lot of puzzles and combos lean on coordinating Faie's magic with Elliot's attacks, so co op shines on those.
Solo players don't miss out
If you're playing alone, you control Faie directly with the right stick — co op simply hands that control to a second person. Every Faie ability is available either way.
FAQ
Is there online co op?
No. Co op is local only — same screen, same console. There's no online or remote-play co op mode.
How many players can play?
Up to two. Player 1 is Elliot and Player 2 is Faie.
Can players join and leave mid-game?
Yes — it's drop-in / drop-out, so a second player can hop in or out whenever you like.
Is co op in the prologue demo?
Faie's control (right stick / second player) is part of the core experience the demo introduces. See the Prologue Demo page for what the demo includes.
