Beginner Tips & Controls
Everything a new adventurer should know in the first few hours.
Start here
Charge your attacks for big specials, keep two complementary weapons equipped, and lean on Faie's abilities for travel, puzzles and combat. Heal for free at red guideposts, and form magicite early so your gear keeps pace.
Core controls
| Attack | Slash with your equipped weapon. Hold to charge a special attack. |
| Guard | Raise the shield to block frontal attacks. Time it for a precise guard. |
| Swap weapon | Switch between your two equipped weapons instantly. |
| Control Faie | Move Faie with the right stick (or hand her to Player 2 in co op). |
| Faie magic | Trigger learned abilities — Sprint, Warp, Ignite, Vacuum, Copy. |
Tips for your first hours
- Hold attack to charge. Special attacks hit harder and cover more range — use them on anything tougher than a basic enemy.
- Pair your two weapons by range. Keep one close-range option and one that covers a gap (a bow, boomerang, or a tool like bombs). Swap freely; there's no cooldown.
- Your shield only blocks the front. Face threats head-on and time the guard for a precise block.
- Let Faie do the legwork. She finds traps, grabs nearby items, and her magic (Sprint, Warp, Ignite, Vacuum, Copy) opens paths and combos. Learn new abilities at Shrines of the Mystic.
- Heal smart. Red-crystal guideposts heal you to full for free; Life Drops only appear when you're hurt; and a Shard of Life fully heals you on pickup — so open chests before you waste medicine. See How to Heal.
- Don't fear falling. If Elliot goes down, Faie revives you on the spot for some tul — no game over.
- Form magicite as you go. Take Magicite Fragments to the shop and form them; doing it often raises your rank and the odds of rarer, cheaper-to-equip magicite. See Magicite Combos.
- Revisit old areas. New Faie abilities unlock shortcuts and treasures back in places you've already cleared.
Sprint everywhere
Faie’s Sprint speeds up travel and solves timing puzzles.
Use red guideposts
Red-crystal posts heal you to full for free.
Form magicite early
Forming more magicite raises your rank and your odds of rare drops.
Don't over-block
Some magicite rewards risk — for example, pushing the shield past its breaking point can trigger flying-slash effects. Once you've got a build going, blocking isn't always the safe default.

How do I get stronger early?
Find stronger same-type weapons in caves and ruins, and form magicite often at the shop to socket effects into your gear.
Is there a difficulty option?
Yes — new difficulty levels were added based on demo feedback. Pick what suits you when you start.
