Prologue / Demo Walkthrough
The opening chapter — Doorway Ruins, the Tag Guardians, and Faie’s first magic.
Does demo progress carry over?
Yes. The free Prologue Demo covers the entire opening chapter as a real slice of the game (not a sealed tutorial), and your save carries over into the full release. The demo runs from the Age of Safekeeping up to the scripted Kaifried the Traitor fight — that fight is the load point for the full game.
Overview
You play Elliot alongside his fairy partner Faie, exploring newly discovered ruins in the present-day Kingdom of Huther. The chapter teaches the core loop: two-weapon combat, Faie’s magic, color-coded dungeon keys and puzzles, and the Doorway of Time that sends Elliot into the past.
Prologue Progression
1. Doorway Ruins. The opening dungeon — platforming, puzzles, combat and treasure. It holds the Doorway of Time, the portal that sends Elliot to the Age of Reconstruction.
2. Shrine of the Mystic. Faie learns Warp here — teleporting Elliot to Faie’s position to cross gaps, solve puzzles, and dodge attacks. See Shrines of the Mystic.
3. Weapons & Shrines of Life. All seven weapon types are available — sword & shield, hammer, lance/spear, bow, hook-and-chain, bombs, boomerang. You equip two at once and swap freely. Clear Shrines of Life trials for a Shard of Life each; collect 4 for +1 max vitality (the full game has 60 Shards in total).
4. The Tag Guardians. The chapter’s signature boss — a two-part guardian battle (strategy below).
5. Kaifried the Traitor (demo end). After the Doorway of Time sends you onward, you fight Kaifried at the Northern Tower. This fight is unwinnable by design — let yourself lose. This is where the Prologue Demo ends.
Boss: The Tag Guardians
The Tag Guardians are learned as a tag/pair across the opening ruins:
Greatsword Guardian — Unexplored Ruins
Slow, heavy swings. Dodge the wind-up, then punish. The ruin uses blue/red keys and monster closets — doors lock until you clear the room.
Great Bow Guardian — Mist Ruins
Fires arrow volleys. Block with the shield or close the distance. The post-boss chest holds the Ancient Text + Ancient Key. Both Guardians later recur as paired mini-bosses guarding Shards of Life.
Bring a ranged option (bow or bombs) alongside melee, and keep Warp ready as a last-second escape. Every boss drops a large amount of magicite — use Faie’s Vacuum to gather it.
| Greatsword Guardian | Unexplored Ruins (boss room reached via Red Door after grabbing the Red Unexplored Ruins Key) | First real boss of the Prologue. Telegraphed heavy greatsword swings; dodge the wind-up then punish. Also appears later as a recurring mini-boss (e.g. 2x Greatsword Guardian guard a Shard of Life in Shrine of Life 10). | Sword & Shield (block/dodge the slow swings, counter) |
| Great Bow Guardian | Mist Ruins - Innermost Area (through the Red Door) | Ranged guardian that fires arrow volleys; close the gap or block arrows with the shield, then punish between shots. Also reappears as a mini-boss (2x Great Bow Guardian guard a Shard of Life in Shrine of Life 8). | Sword & Shield (block arrows) or Bow to trade at range |
| Kaifried the Traitor | Northern Tower - Sublevel Two (after the Kaifried cutscene). This fight marks where the Prologue Demo ends. | An unwinnable scripted battle by design - you cannot win, so let yourself lose to advance the story. | N/A (scripted loss) |
